Meet Our Dentists

Dr. Judith M. Fisch

The number one priority of our dental practice is advocating for our patients’ overall health.

Dr. Judith Fisch grew up outside of Albany, NY and attended dental hygiene school in Syracuse, NY.  Realizing she wanted to be a dentist she pursued her Bachelor’s degree at SUNY Oswego and then went on to Georgetown University School of Dentistry in Washington, DC.   After four long and intense years of training, she and husband (& classmate), Dr. David Heaton, began a new phase with the US Navy.

Gaining considerable experience in dentistry as well as the Navy, they returned to Rutland and entered private practice with Dave’s dad.  The practice was started by Dr. Ronald Heaton in the early 1960’s and has served many residents of Rutland County for over 60 years!

Dr. Fisch has been involved with organized dentistry throughout her career and is a past president of the Vermont State Dental Society and a former trustee of the American Dental Association Board of Trustees representing the six New England States.

Most recently, Dr. Fisch obtained her diplomate status in Dental Sleep Medicine through the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine.  She is one of three dentists in the state of Vermont with this status.  At her adjunct practice, Green Mountain Dental Sleep Center, Dr. Fisch treats patients with obstructive sleep apnea using oral appliance therapy.

Dr. Fisch and Dr. Heaton (retired) have four children, one grandchild, and have resided in Rutland Town since 1989.

Dr. Steve Moran

We listen attentively to our patients concerns to determine the best choice of dental care for each individual.

Dr. Moran grew up in a military family and lived in several locations before his family settled in Rockville, Maryland. He attended Loyola College (now Loyola University Maryland) and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy in 1981.

He then went on to obtain his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at Georgetown University School of Dentistry in 1985. There he met Dr. Heaton, Dr. Fisch, and his future wife, Dr. Carolyn Malon.

Dr. Moran and Dr. Malon moved to Connecticut, where they raised two children and practiced together for over 30 years before selling their practice in November of 2019. Dr. Moran has been involved with his children’s schools, community activities, as well as organized dentistry at the local and state levels.

He has enjoyed practicing with the Heaton Fisch dental team since September of 2014 and appreciates the less hectic pace and beautiful scenery that Vermont offers. He enjoys hunting, fishing, biking, skiing, and other outdoor activities in his free time.
